Belomorkanal brand means one of the strongest cigarettes in the world. But why? Because this brand symbolizes strong flavor and strong smoking. Thus, it is probably the strongest brand. Each cigarette contains 1,5 - 1,8 mg of nicotine and 30 - 35 mg of tar (a high tar content).

"Belomorkanal" is historically a Russian and Soviet cigarette (cigarette of USSR). USSR does not exist any longer, but these cigarettes are not less popular. This cigarette was produced in commemoration to the construction of the Belomorsko-Baltiyskiy Kanal. It has a specifically Russian design, which is called in Russia as papirosa. It is a special design as it is distinguished from usual cigarettes called sigareta. In the west this method of design and cigarette production was departed right after the Second World War.

The package of these cigarettes has not been changed in the course of time. It has the same appearance, picture and description. So it is easily recognizable by amateurs of this kind of tobacco products. May be this unchangeability makes this product so eye-catching and asked- for. As a rule, the "papirosa" does not have a filter. Belomorkanal is an exception from the rule. It underwent all the stages in the evolution of cigarettes: it is composed of a hollow cardboard tube, which is prolonged by a thin cigarette paper tube with tobacco. A thin paper is wrapped around the tobacco like by all cigarettes. A pack contains 25 cigarettes.

In July 1992, the American tobacco company R. J. Reynolds bought controlling interest in the Uritsky Tobacco Factory in St. Petersburg where the Belomorkanal cigarette brand was manufactured. And the factory was transformed into the RJR-Petro Tobacco Factory. Belomorkanal cigarettes are also very popular as pre-rolled papers for marijuana joints.
